Lately, on film

I recently developed two rolls of film from days spent exploring moors, parks, cemetery's and coves. Most of the photos are from recent weeks - Stoke Newington, Kirkby Lonsdale, Malham Cove -, although the photographs from Lyme Park were taken over a year ago and were a nice surprise to find on the developed film.

Milan Fashion Week: Favourites

A vivid array of print, colour and embellishment was paraded down the catwalk at Dolce & Gabbana. The collection began with elegantly cut silk dresses; depicting images of ceramic vases, puppetry and street theatrics in the designers’ native Sicily. Worn with vibrantly printed silk head scarves and ornate ribbon and pom-pom earrings, this was a summer daytime dressing master-class.

Mixed amongst the colourful prints were fit-and-flare dresses and high-waisted shorts in bold deckchair stripes; adding to the summer holiday aesthetic. Silhouettes were typical for the Italian designers – feminine and sensual with 1950s influences.

The extravagant eveningwear finale began with black Sicilian lace sheer dresses and elaborately embroidered raffia designs. The show concluded with straw and woven raffia moulded into complex corsetry, mirroring classic Sicilian wicker baskets.

Marni is always a fashion week favourite. Forward-thinking silhouettes, simple yet awesome prints and  an innate sense of style. SS13 offered clean minimal oversized shapes, geometric prints and a breathe of fresh air.

Fall into Autumn

This past week has felt like Autumn. Rusty leaves are falling from the trees, the rain seems never-ending, cosy jumpers and thick tights have become necessities.

Early, sleepy nights have meant little time for my blog this week. I have a lot of catching up to do. What were your favourite shows from Milan Fashion Week? I have reviewed Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana for the Flannels blog, which will be live tomorrow. The vivid prints, silk headscarves and deckchair-striped dresses at Dolce were my favourites of the week.

LFW: Erdem

Another London favourite, Erdem charms me season after season with his delicate floral designs.

Billie Sunday

I love a good lookbook. Billie Sunday's latest collection "Sand Paradise" was shot by Las Coleccionistas. The photographs tell a story set over a five day period, with a distinct 1960s aesthetic. The colours are a beautiful fusion of terracotta and olive green, the organic printed playsuits are divine and the idea of the lookbook is perfection.

Mariell

Mariell from one of my favourite blogs, Hjartesmil has now got an online portfolio of her beautiful photography available or your perusal. Expect beautiful photographs of everyday life, weddings and portraits of her friends that will make you wish that you knew her.

NYFW: Cynthia Rowley

The final show to catch my eye was one of the very last at NYFW: Cynthia Rowley. The presentation was staged in a derelict hotel, with confetti sprinkled everywhere as if it was a party. The collection was all pretty party dresses, huge gold bangles that doubled as hip flasks (!!!) and BIG hair.

NYFW: Favourites

 1. My absolute favourite show from NYFW was Derek Lam. There's something about those oversized slinky tees teamed with beautifully decorative skirts and black ankle boots that makes me think I want to wear this! Also - the colour combinations! Pale grey, dark red and black. White, gold and yellow. Burgundy, yellow and sea-green. Awesome.
2. My second favourite - Jill Sander Navy. This collection is basically my fantasy work wardrobe. Crisp collars, full skirts, florals, matching the print of your dress to the print of your tote bag. The red, navy, white and grey colour scheme is perfect for Spring!
